TAV Airports, part of Groupe ADP, has completed a $200 million investment in a new terminal at Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan. The terminal, which welcomed its first passengers from London on June 1, increases the airport's capacity to over 14 million passengers annually.

Almaty Airport served 6.4 million passengers in 2019 and saw a 32% increase in 2023, reaching 9.5 million passengers.

TAV Airports, which acquired an 85% stake in the airport in 2021 for $422 million, secured $450 million for the acquisition and investment, with support from IFC and EBRD. The new terminal aims to attract more airlines and support growth. The new terminal building has a total of 12 boarding gates 7 of which have bridges, 3.230 sqm of duty free area and a car park with a capacity of 786 vehicles which will increase to 1.200 vehicles by September 2024.

Almaty Airport hit a record by handling 98,621 tons of cargo in 2023, with expectations for further growth.
