Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport is undergoing significant renovations that will last until 2028. These improvements aim to enhance the airport's functionality, to prepare for 6 million annual travelers and promote green energy production. There are three main transformations planned:

  1. Billi Terminal Expansion: The Billi terminal, mainly used by low-cost airlines like EasyJet and Ryanair, will undergo expansion by the end of summer 2024. The enhancements include better signage, a protected exterior area, resized toilets, improved thermal performance, a new outdoor terrace, landscaping, and an expanded departures area. The goal is to complete these changes by 2025, with an estimated cost of 2 million euros.
  2. Building Connecting Halls A and B: A new building will connect halls A and B of the airport to improve passenger flow. It will house a single security checkpoint between the two halls and feature a 4,800 m² area with shops, catering outlets, and boutiques. Construction is scheduled to start in 2026, with a project cost exceeding 100 million euros.
  3. Solar Panels and Green Initiatives: The airport plans to install solar panels in the P4 car park, covering 65,000 m² to generate solar energy. Additionally, there's a geothermal project planned for 2025 and a plan to green the intermediate spaces in various car parks.
