Calgary International Airport logistics center to focus on air cargo

The logistics center at Calgary International Airport will see some changes as the new owner, Realterm, a global investment manager focusing on logistics infrastructure, plans to shift the center's use from current businesses like indoor go-karts and jungle gyms to air cargo operations. Realterm recently acquired control of over 502,000 square feet of industrial property adjacent to the airport. They plan to utilize the property, which has not been used for airfreight despite having the capacity for 15 years, for its intended purpose of moving commerce.

Calgary International Airport is the fourth busiest in Canada and handles most of Alberta's air cargo. The logistics center has three buildings capable of hosting freighter aircraft. Realterm intends to market these spaces to aviation users when current non-aviation leases expire. This move aims to take advantage of the airport's infrastructure and location near a major regional highway, making it attractive for air cargo providers. Realterm also plans to make necessary investments to improve the warehouses for airfreight operations.
