The Community of Madrid plans to extend Metro Line 5 to connect it directly to the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. This project, to be tendered and awarded in 2024, with a budget of 209 million euros, aims to improve the mobility and accessibility for travelers.

It will connect the Alameda de Osuna station with the future terminal of the airport, as well as with terminals T1, T2, and T3 of Line 8. This expansion is in response to the need for better connectivity to the airport, which is currently served by Metro Line 8.

The Metro system in Madrid has been undergoing various improvements and expansions to enhance public transportation and reduce emissions by 2050.
