NAV CANADA presented Supplier Excellence Awards

NAV CANADA presented Supplier Excellence Awards to six companies that have helped make the company one of the most efficient and technologically advanced air navigation service providers in the world.

The awards were presented to the companies byMr. William G, Fenton, Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer, during a ceremony at the NAV CANADA Training Institute (ACTI) in Cornwall, Ontario.

"Since moving to the private sector, NAV CANADA has become one of the most technologically modern and efficient air navigation service providers in the world," said Mr, Fenton, "These awards recognize the efforts made by our suppliers in making this success story happen."

The companies receiving Supplier Excellence Awards this year include:

Black & McDonald - for construction and installation work on the Area Control Centre - Uninterrupted Power Supply (ACC-UPS) Project.

Hewlett-Packard Canada - for supplying Unix servers and workstations for operational and business systems

The Mitre Corporation & xwave - for their work on the Converging Runway Display Aid (CRDA).

Oracle Canada - for developing and implementing the Financial and Human Resource Management Systems.

Sodehxo Marriott - for hospitality and support services provided at NCTI.

The award winners were selected on the basis of client ratings in six categories: responsiveness, quality improvement, ease-of-use, predictability, technology and capability. The winning suppliers receive an engraved plaque,

The MITRE Corporation & xwave

The MITRE Corporation and xwave are recognized for their excellent work in support of NAV CANADA’s Converging Runway Display Aid (CRDA) program. CRDA improves airport operational performance and reduces arrival and departure delays in airports where it has been implemented.

The MITRE Corporation is specifically recognized for its work on the CRDA implementation study and support for the application of the underlying technologies. Xwave is recognized for its work in developing a prototype CRDA capability on the NAV CANADA Auxiliary Radar System (NARDS) platform.

Mr. Robert Ravera, Vice President, Operations at The MITRE Corporation is accepting the Supplier Excellence Award on behalf of his company.

Mr. Eric Stolle, Director Air Traffic Management for xwave, is accepting the Supplier Excellence Award on behalf of his cpmpany.

Hewlett-Packard Canada

Hewlett-Packard Canada is recognized for supplying Unix Servers and workstations used to support key NAV CANADA operational and business systems and for the maintenance and services they provide in support of those systems.

Hewlett-Packard products are currently in use on such major NAV CANADA projects as:

CAATS (Canadian Automated Air Traffic System), FWGS (flight weather graphics systems)

ETMS (enhanced traffic management systems)

and MAXIMO (NAV CANADA’s remote maintenance and monitoring system).

Mr. Dave Perley, Branch General Manager for Hewlett-Packard Canada is accepting the Supplier Excellence Award on behalf of his company.

Oracle Canada

Oracle Canada is recognized for providing and implementing NAV CANADA’s Oracle Financials & Human Resource Management System (HRMS), and for their ongoing maintenance and support of those systems.

Mr. William (Bill) Bergen, President of Oracle Canada, is accepting the Supplier Excellence Award on behalf of his company.

Black & McDonald

Black & McDonald is recognized for the their high quality work on NAV CANADA’S ACC-UPS (Area Control Centre-Uninterrupted Power Supply) Project between 1998 and 2000. The ACC-UPS Project covered the multimillion-dollar installation and upgrade of backup power systems in all NAV CANADA Air Traffic Control Centres to maximize the reliability of the critical load feeding the air traffic control rooms.

Not only did Black & McDonald complete their project professionally and on budget, they also made recommendations on how to improve the project when they recognized a potential advantage to NAV CANADA.

Mike Sharp, Vice-President of Black & McDonald is accepting the Supplier Excellence Award on behalf of his company.

Sodehxo Marriott Services Canada

Sodehxo Marriott Services Canada is recognized for the high quality of the hospitality and support services provided at the NAV CANADA Training Institute. Services provided include: food services; recreational services; marketing and sales services; switchboard and front desk services; bar aud tuck shop services; and janitorial and housekeeping services.

Mrs. Marie-Line Beauchamp, Vice President, Operations for Sodehxo Marriott Services Canada, is accepting the Supplier Excellence Award on behalf of her company.
