Oman Seeks Bids for Redevelopment of Muscat Old Airport

21 Jun 2024

Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) has invited developers and developer consortiums to submit expressions of interest (EOIs) for the redevelopment, operation, and management of Muscat International Airport’s old terminal.

The project will follow a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.

Once prequalification is complete, the selected bidders will participate in a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the next bid phase.

"The old Muscat airport terminal will be transformed into a multi-purpose facility, with plans to convert it into an aviation museum showcasing the history of aviation in the country,” said Naif al Abri, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, earlier this year.

The old terminal, which opened in 1973, was expanded several times to accommodate growing passenger numbers.

Recently, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) commenced commercial operations on the southern runway at Muscat International Airport, which is the old runway connected to the old terminal building.
