The recent completion of Tallinn Airport's airside area development project marks one of the biggest infrastructure investments in the last decade. The project, costing nearly 74 million euros, aimed to enhance aviation safety, increase capacity, and improve the airport's environmental condition. The EU Cohesion Fund contributed 35 million euros to this project.

Riivo Tuvike, the chairman of Tallinn Airport, emphasized the project's phased execution, allowing the airport to remain operational during development. The work was primarily conducted at night to avoid disrupting operations. Tuvike highlighted future plans for building aircraft servicing hangars and a cargo area.

Key achievements of the project include a runway extension to 3480 meters, a new apron area, a network of taxiways, environmentally friendly rainwater systems, and de-icing areas. Warehouses for storing de-icing chemicals and new maintenance and rescue equipment were also part of the project.
