#75808

The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation is in the process of selecting an international consultant to oversee the privatization of airport operations. The selection is expected to be finalized by June 2024. The consultant's role will be to assist the Ministry in choosing which airports will begin the privatization process and to establish a schedule for all airports to be offered for management and operation by private sectors by the end of this year.

A meeting was held in early March by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to review the progress of implementing the strategy for developing Egyptian airports. This strategy focuses on maximizing the use of airport infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency, improving passenger experience, increasing revenue, promoting sustainability, and digital transformation. It also aims to develop the administrative capabilities of the workforce through international expertise.

This initiative marks the first time the Egyptian government has opened airport operations to international private sector involvement, originally announced in November of the previous year.
